In Russia, Found 1.5 & Nbsp; Million Cars With & Nbsp; Defective Airbags

More than 1.5 million vehicles with defective Takata airbags drive on Russian roads. This assessment was given to Izvestia by the deputy head of Rosstandart Alexei Kuleshov.

• Defective gas generators of Takat pillows are capable of exploding during an accident, throwing metal fragments into the passenger compartment. This is mainly due to high humidity - for a long time, the gas generator body cracks.

• Around the world, defective Takat pillows were replaced on nearly 100 million vehicles and this led to the bankruptcy of the company. In the United States, there have been at least 24 fatalities from their incorrect operation, and another 290 people were injured.
• In Russia, the recall affected cars of two dozen brands produced in 2000–2015, including Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Subaru and BMW. Rosstandart said that there were no cases of injury or death due to Takata pillows in our country. The department added that it is still not worth ignoring recall campaigns, as many do, and the risks of incorrect activation of the pillows are very high.
