In November 2019, 30.1 thousand cars rolled off the conveyors of three St. Petersburg automobile plants - Hyundai / Kia, Nissan and Toyot, which is 17% less than a year earlier, according to Auto-Dealer-SPb. This is the fourth consecutive decline in volumes this year, and it became the strongest since April 2016, when production dropped by 18%.
- Mikhail Chaplygin, General Director of Auto-Dealer-SPb, believes that in the current market situation, when the demand for new cars is falling, it makes no sense to increase production volumes. “The last time less than 30,000 cars in November were produced in 2016 - then the three-year decline of the St. Petersburg car industry, which began in the crisis year of 2014, ended. Now the situation is different: car plants with the current model range are at the peak of their capabilities, "Chaplygin summed up.
- The total volume of output since the beginning of the year has decreased to 2% of last year's result. For 11 months, 337.8 thousand cars rolled off the conveyors. At the same time, the share of the St. Petersburg automobile industry decreased to 24.1% (minus 0.5 points).
-
Only three models of St. Petersburg car factories were in the top 10 best-selling foreign cars in Russia at the end of eleven months of 2019: KiRio (85.8 thousand units, minus 6.6%), Hyundai Cret (66 thousand units, plus 5.6%) and Hyundai Solaris (54.3 thousand units, minus 12.6%).
Now the production of eight cars has been launched at the factories of St. Petersburg: Hyundai Cret and Solaris, KiRio (including Rio X-Line), Nissan Murano, Qashqai and X-Trail, ToyotCamry and ToyotRav4.
