Video: BMW Has Stopped Sales Of M-versions Due To Problems With The & Nbsp; Wiring

BMW has announced it is discontinuing sales of a number of "charged" models while troubleshooting automatic transmission problems. As it became known to the Bimmerpost portal, so far only American dealers have received a ban on the transfer of cars to customers.

- The reason is the wrong position of the transmission wiring harness. This can lead to component damage, which will ultimately lead to a short circuit and an unexpected switch to neutral while driving.
- The sales ban applies to the BMW M5 sedans, coupes, convertibles and Gran Coupe M8 sedans, as well as the X5 M and X6 M crossovers launched in 2019. All of them are equipped with a bi-turbo 4.4-liter V8 with a capacity of 575-625 hp, eight-speed "automatic" and all-wheel drive.
-
To solve the problem, technicians must replace the transmission wiring harness. Only after the completion of the work will the cars be allowed to be sold again.
