Video: New Subaru Outback Will Arrive In Russia Two Years After The Premiere
The sixth generation Subaru Outback off-road wagon, which debuted in April 2019 at the New York Auto Show, will go on sale in the Russian market only in 2021. This was reported to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" in the representative office of the Japanese company.
In the sixth generation, the Outback has moved to the modular SGP (Subaru Global Platform) platform on which all the latest Subaru models are built. Its design uses an increased proportion of ultra-high-strength steels, which has doubled the bending stiffness of the body compared to its predecessor.
- The base engine for the new Outback is a naturally aspirated 2.5 direct-injection boxer with 185 hp. (239 Nm), and the top-end 260-horsepower "six" 3.6 was replaced by a turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer with 264 hp. (376 Nm). The motors are paired with a variator and four-wheel drive.
- The ground clearance of the new Subaru Outback is 220 millimeters, and outside the model has a proprietary body kit made of unpainted plastic. In the cabin is an optional 11.6-inch vertical multimedia screen, perforated leather trim, ventilated seats and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
In the second half of 2020, Subaru will bring to Russia only a modernized Subaru XV with slightly modified bumpers, as well as special versions of the Forester crossover and the Legacy sedan. Like Outback, Legacy has recently changed generations, but we have a predecessor on sale.
