For several months now, the first batch of used cars brought from China has been idle in the customs port of St. Petersburg, which cannot go through the customs clearance procedure. This became known to the portal "Russian car".
- SBKTS (wheeled vehicle safety certificates) have not yet been issued for the cars. For this, it is necessary that they comply with Russian standards and have an installed ERA-Glonass system. Moreover, the necessary documents can not be obtained either by Chinese companies engaged in the export of cars, or by individuals.
- The PRC embassy in Russia got involved in solving the problem. It asked to help Rosakkreditatsiya with registration of used cars. It is not yet known what the answer was in the Russian department.
Earlier, the Chinese authorities lifted the ban on the export of old cars abroad to unload the domestic aftermarket. The first batch, consisting of 300 cars of local brands and foreign cars assembled in China, was sent in the summer of 2019. It was distributed between Russia, Cambodia, Nigeria and Myanmar. The total cost of the consignment was $ 2.5 million - an average of $ 8.3 thousand (532 thousand rubles) for one car.
