This year, the jury is represented by 60 journalists from 23 European countries, each of which, at its discretion, will distribute 25 points among the participants of the award. The winner will be announced on March 2, 2020, ahead of the opening of the Geneva Motor Show.
- Last year, for the first time in the history of the competition, the two finalists scored the same number of points: the Jaguar I-Pace electric crossover and the Alpine A110 mid-engined coupe each received 250 points from the jury. The organizers had to compare how many jury members awarded the first place to one and the other participant. As a result, the Jaguar I-Pace became the European Car of the Year.
