Lexus Unveils Large Luxury Convertible

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Lexus unveiled an open-top version of the luxurious two-door LC500. The novelty differs from the coupe with a four-layer folding fabric top, a slightly modified rear part of the body, a modified climate control system and a weight increased by about 100 kilograms.

• Folding and unfolding the roof of the Lexus LC500 Convertible takes about 15 seconds, and this can be done at speeds up to 50 kilometers per hour. The roof material will be offered in black or beige, and the body palette has 10 shades.
• For the convertible, climate control has been specially modified: a system called Lexus Climate Concierge is trained to automatically regulate not only the airflow temperature, but also heated seats (including in the neck area) and steering wheel, constantly maintaining a comfortable climate around the driver and passengers.
• The convertible's beltline and rear fenders have been designed to minimize aerodynamic noise at high speeds. In addition, the suspension settings have been recalibrated.
• The company does not talk about changes in the power unit, as well as about dynamic characteristics. The LC500 coupe is powered by a five-liter naturally aspirated 477-horsepower V8, mated to a ten-speed automatic.

• The basic configuration of the convertible includes a set of Lexus Safety System + safety assistants, automatic high-beam control, an Alcantara-trimmed interior and multimedia with a 10.3-inch display and the ability to connect Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa services.
• Sales will begin in summer 2020 with a limited edition Inspiration Series (100 vehicles) featuring a special paint finish and fabric top and 21-inch wheels. In addition, another unique instance of the LC500 (there are no details about it) will be sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction on January 17, 2020.
