The State Duma Wants To Increase Prices For Studded Tires

They want to include in the cost of studded tires compensation for damage caused to roads by studs. As reported by the agency "Moscow", such an initiative was made by a member of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction Alexander Vasiliev.

• The announcement came after the state-owned company Avtodor, which is responsible for the construction of toll roads, proposed measures to combat the rapid destruction of the roadway. It was proposed to limit the period of use of studded tires from 273 to 188 days, set the speed limit on all roads in winter at 80 km / h and introduce additional fines for non-compliance with the new rules.
• Alexander Vasiliev noted that the method proposed by Avtodor is used in Finland, but there the roads are not cleaned to asphalt in winter. According to him, the experience of the Scandinavian country is difficult to extrapolate to the southern regions of Russia, where snow is rare.

• According to Avtodor, Russian highways receive up to 90 percent of the damage in winter. Roads are being destroyed especially intensively because of the thorns. Therefore, Vasiliev proposed to introduce compensation for damage to the roadway in the form of excise tax instead of speed limits.
