In the American city of Livonia, Michigan, police found an abandoned 1981 Chevrolet Corvette C3. When they began to find out his fate, it turned out that the car had been stolen for 38 years.

- The report of the abandoned compartment came to the police department from local residents. Law enforcement officers towed the Corvette to the station and began to study it, however, while searching for information on the VIN number of the car, the computer base gave an error.
-
As part of the investigation into the history of the abandoned car, a criminalist was called. He determined that the main VIN plate was forged, but the original additional code remained on the body. It turned out that the Chevrolet Corvette was hijacked in the neighboring town of Pontiac back in 1981, when the car was completely new.
- Despite its dark past, the 38-year-old coupe is in good condition and has a range of less than 11,000 miles (17,700 kilometers). Now the police are looking for the first owner of the Corvette, but if it turns out that after the theft of a new car, he received insurance for it, according to local law, the coupe will become the property of the insurance company.
