Russian Regions With The Best And Worst Roads Named

Rosstat published statistics on compliance with Russian roads standards in each region based on data for 2018. It turned out that in the country as a whole, only 42.4 percent of regional roads and 52.8 percent of local public roads meet all the standards.

• Among the roads of local importance, the situation with the quality is the worst in the Arkhangelsk region, where only 3.7 percent of the routes meet the regulatory requirements. The Nenets Autonomous Okrug (7.2 percent), the Altai Republic (18.1 percent) and the Kirov region (19.5 percent) also got into the anti-rating.
• The least quality regional roads are in the Republic of Mari El: only 1.4 percent are within the norm. The situation is slightly better in the Saratov region (9.9 percent), in the Republic of Kalmykia (11.8 percent) and in the Arkhangelsk region (15.1 percent).

• Local roads in the Chelyabinsk Region have shown themselves exemplary: Rosstat announced 100% compliance with all standards. In second place are two regions at once: the Kemerovo Region and the Krasnodar Territory - they each have 90.4 percent. They are followed by the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (89.4 percent) and the Tyumen Region (89.3 percent).

• The best regional roads are in Moscow. In the capital, 97 percent of the tracks meet the regulatory requirements. This indicator was not reached in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (84.5 percent), the Stavropol Territory (74.9 percent) and the Krasnoyarsk Territory (71.4 percent).
