Electric Car Nissan Leaf Has Become An All-wheel Drive 309-horsepower Hot Hatch

Nissan has unveiled the Leaf electric hatchback prototype powered by two electric motors, one for each axle. The car was created to test technologies that will appear on future electric vehicles of the brand.

• The total power of the two electric motors is 309 hp. and 680 Nm of torque. The dynamic characteristics of the prototype were not disclosed. The all-wheel drive Leaf is able to independently brake each of the four wheels, controlling the thrust vector in corners, and an improved recuperation system allows you to eliminate "diving" when braking.
• Externally, the prototype differs from a serial electric car with extended wheel arches, stickers on the body and two screens located on the front panel. The largest of them, 12.3-inch diagonal, displays the work schedules of two electric motors.
• Nissan's first production all-wheel-drive electric vehicle should be the Ariya crossover, unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show yesterday. It is expected to go on sale in 2021.

The production Nissan Leaf has only one electric motor on the front axle, so it is exclusively front-wheel drive.
