New LR Defender Will Receive A Luxury Version To Compete With Gelik

SUV Land Rover Defender of the new generation, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the form of a three-door with an index of 90 and five-door 110, will be equipped with a luxury version, which will receive a 130 prefix. According to Autocar, the luxury Defender will directly compete with the Mercedes-Benz G-class.

• The original Defender 130 was a four-door pickup truck. The management of Jaguar Land Rover originally planned to create this type of body in the new generation, but then it was decided that an extended version of the Defender 110 would be more promising.
• The length of the new Land Rover Defender 130 will be 5100 mm, width - 1999 mm, and height - 1915 mm. Compared to the standard five-door SUV, the wheelbase will remain the same (3,022 mm), while the 342 mm increase will come from the rear overhang. This will create an eight-seat cabin configuration.
• The luxury version with rich interior trim will be handled by the factory division SVO (Special Vehicle Operations). Also, experts will prepare a powerful modification that will be able to compete with the 585-horsepower Mercedes-AMG G 63. Now the top-end for the new Defender is a 400-horsepower hybrid installation, consisting of a three-liter inline turbo six and a 48-volt starter-generator.

Serial production of the Land Rover Defender 130 will begin in 2021 - a year later than the rest of the versions. The base 200-horsepower Defender 110 will cost a little less than the soplatform Discovery, for which in Russia they ask for a minimum of 4,265,000 rubles. For a 422-horsepower Mercedes-Benz G500, you will have to pay 9,510,000 rubles.
