  • Roberto bought a new Nissan Leaf in October 2011. The hatchback was equipped with a 24 kWh battery. The passport power reserve of 175 kilometers was enough for the taxi driver to deliver people in his hometown of Valladolid. The electric car was charged at home at night and during lunch breaks.
  • The average daily mileage of an electric taxi was 150-200 kilometers, sometimes growing up to 300 kilometers. Roberto refused to travel long distances, but, according to him, for all the time there were no more than 10 percent of the total number of orders. Almost all of his trips did not exceed five kilometers.

  • Before the electric car, Roberto worked for more than four years in the Volkswagen Touran, having covered 320,000 kilometers. Despite the higher cost of the Nissan Leaf, the savings due to the elimination of diesel refueling and expensive scheduled maintenance made it possible to recoup the Japanese car for 300,000 kilometers. The electric car required major repairs only once - at 354,000 mileage, the original traction battery had to be replaced.

  • The taxi driver planned to drive the electric hatchback up to half a million kilometers on the odometer, but recently, at 392,000 kilometers, a BMW sedan crashed into him from behind, for which the Leaf had to be written off. Nevertheless, Roberto has already decided that his next working transport will again be an electric car.
