Travelers from Chelyabinsk reached Iceland in a red ZAZ-968 produced in 1976. The trip, 15 thousand kilometers long, took a month and a half. The portal 74.ru told about it.
Residents of Chelyabinsk Evgeny Ladonkin and Artyom Kulakov bought a Zaporozhets before the start of the trip for 90 thousand rubles. As a preparation for the car, the original 42-horsepower engine was sorted out, modified for AI-95 gasoline, and a new clutch was installed.
- During the first part of the trip, the car's carburetor leaked, gasoline dripped directly onto the engine. But the Chelyabinsk residents managed to cope with the problem on the side of the road and get to the ferry sailing to Denmark. On the way, they accelerated to 120 km / h in order to be in time before the departure of the ship - as a result, they arrived with a margin of 15 minutes.
- Already in Iceland, Evgeny and Artyom spent the night in an abandoned house on the pass, and on a cold morning the Zaporozhets refused to start. They managed to revive him only after a few hours. Later, the car junked more than once, but locals and other tourists always came to the aid of travelers.
Due to the modest budget, Chelyabinsk residents could not afford to rent rooms in hotels, so they mostly slept in the car. According to them, "Zaporozhets" is not suitable for an overnight stay: it is very cramped and, moreover, flows during the rains.
The budget for the entire trip was 300 thousand rubles, including the cost of the car. According to travelers, after such a vacation, another vacation is needed. Nevertheless, they are already preparing to conquer the Pamirs on the Zaporozhets.
