From the beginning of 2020, Russia will be banned from driving new cars without numbers for 10 days after purchase. This became known to the edition Autonews.
- On January 1, 2020, a law will come into force, which will allow you to independently order registration plates for a car from private manufacturers, and the State Traffic Inspectorate will only assign a combination of letters and numbers to the car. At the same time, the traffic police will retain the right to independently issue signs, since not all regions of the country have the required number of companies.
- Also, according to the new rules, dealers will be allowed to register new cars and issue numbers directly in the salon, independently sending the necessary documents to the traffic police. To do this, the car dealership must fulfill special requirements, undergo inspection and obtain the status of a "specialized organization".
When buying a used car, you will still have a 10-day period for registering the car. The norm was left in case the driver wants to return to his region for registration, although the purchase can be registered in any constituent entity of the Russian Federation. The traffic police will still assign a number with a region code that corresponds to the place of registration of the new owner.
- In addition, starting next year, it will be necessary to draw up a registration document for a car or its chassis being exported from the country.
