Engineers of the Russian Formula Student design bureau made a full presentation of the second prototype of the Crimea roadster and told the details about the modified model. According to the creators, it has become larger and safer - due to the introduction of new systems.

  • As it was known earlier, the old tubular frame was replaced by a supporting structure made of metal box-shaped profiles. New body panels made of composite materials have increased the length of the roadster by 57 millimeters (up to 3905 mm), and in height - by 22 mm (up to 1217 mm). The ground clearance has increased from 125 to 135 mm.

  • In terms of safety, the novelty is distinguished from the first version by the presence of an anti-lock braking system and a stabilization system. The model is still equipped with a 1.6-liter VAZ-21127 engine with a capacity of 140 hp. and five-speed "mechanics", but instead of a turbine, an atmospheric engine with a modified exhaust system and a new firmware of the control unit was used. The clutch cable drive is replaced with a hydraulic one.
  • On the second prototype, more parts from LadKalin2 were used: in addition to the front panel in the cabin, the seats with adjustments, the steering wheel, the "mechanics" lever, the organizer boxes between the seats and the glove compartment were also taken. The three-piece convertible soft top has given way to a rigid removable roof.
  • The developers tested the second copy of the roadster and identified a number of shortcomings that are going to be eliminated in the future. Among them: incorrect operation of security systems, demolition of the rear axle when gas is released, fogging of all windows and an armrest that interferes with control.

Now in KB "Formula Student" they create the third copy together with students of Russian universities. The plan is to build a minimum of seven prototypes to pass certification crash tests. Only then is it possible to start serial production.
