Nissan Has Created A City Hatch With An Autopilot And Wood Trim

Nissan has released renders of the IMk electric concept car. It is a compact self-driving car designed to show the details of the brand's future compact models. The hatchback will debut live at the Tokyo Auto Show in late October 2019.

• The exterior of the concept reflects Nissan's new design style with an angular silhouette and large radiator grille. IMk was created for the class of kei cars, which have reduced taxes in Japan, but the dimensions of the hatchback slightly go beyond the permissible limits: length - 3434 mm (for kei cars a maximum of 3400 mm), width - 1512 mm (allowed 1480 mm), height - 1644 mm, which is less than the border of 2000 mm.
• The interior of Nissan IMk is almost entirely made of fabric, there is even a gray material on the steering wheel rim. The lower part of the doors is finished with natural wood. There are two projection displays in the center of the front panel, and the usual monitors at the base of the front pillars are responsible for the picture from the side rear-view cameras.
• The autopilot announced for the concept is already serial: the ProPILOT 2.0 assistant complex is installed on the updated Nissan Skyline sedan. With it, you can drive on the highway without touching the steering wheel, and in IMk they added the function of automatic parking without people inside.

• The concept also includes an Invisible-to-Visible (I2V) augmented reality system. It uses vehicle sensors and data from the cloud to monitor the area around the vehicle, alerting the driver to emergencies.

• Nissan IMk is equipped with a single electric motor and is built on some kind of new platform. Other specifications have not yet been disclosed. There is also no indication as to whether the concept is a harbinger of a production model.
