
Video: Toyota Bought Some More Subaru. Now She Owns A Fifth Of The Company

Toyot and Subaru announced the expansion of cooperation and agreed to purchase additional blocks of shares of each other. Toyota will increase its stake in Subaru from 16.83 to 20 percent and will soon spend 80 billion yen ($ 741.6 million) on it. Subaru will pay an equivalent amount for Toyota shares, but the size of this share has not been disclosed.

- The companies also officially confirmed the joint development of the next generation of the ToyotGT86 coupe and the Subaru BRZ. The models, which debuted in 2012, became the first major joint project of the two brands. Rear-wheel drive coupes are equipped with a 208-horsepower two-liter boxer "four" and differ only in nameplates, front bumpers and headlights.
- In the summer, Toyot announced work on a new modular e-TNG platform for electric vehicles, on which Subaru will create a common midsize crossover. The companies also collaborate in the field of self-driving, hybrid technologies and online services for cars.
