Video: American Startup Has Come Up With A Serial Electric Van That Cannot Be Bought

Los Angeles-based startup Canoo unveiled its first model, an electric minivan of the same name, which took only 19 months to develop. The creators expect to launch it into mass production as early as 2021. However, the electric car will only be available on a subscription with a fixed monthly fee.

-
The exterior of Canoo is minimalistic, and all body and glass panels are made as symmetrical as possible to simplify production and repair. The autopilot system includes seven cameras, five radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors, all spaced around the body.
- The minivan is designed for seven people: the second row, reminiscent of a U-shaped home sofa, accommodates five at once. There are no special monitors for passengers in the cabin, there is only a narrow panel for interaction with the driver. But passengers will be able to control the multimedia system using their smartphones and tablets.
- Canoo's only 304 hp electric motor. mounted on the rear axle. A battery with a capacity of 80 kWh, located under the floor of the passenger compartment, provides a cruising range of 250 miles (402 kilometers) on a single charge. With a high-speed speaker, a depleted battery can be filled to 80 percent in less than half an hour.
