The unpunished speeding threshold is planned to be reduced to 10 km / h, having approved this norm in the new edition of the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO). This was announced by the Deputy Head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia Vladimir Kuzin on the air of "Avtoradio".

  • According to Kuzin, the new Code of Administrative Offenses is now being prepared by the government and will be presented to the State Duma. at the beginning of 2020… At the same time, a decrease in the penalty threshold for speeding may not be included in the document, although the Ministry of Internal Affairs stands for this idea.

The idea of returning the penalty for exceeding 10 km / h began to be promoted at the end of 2018. But later, the authorities decided that it was first necessary to check the validity of the installation of road signs and complexes for fixing violations.

In accordance with the current version of the Code of Administrative Offenses, there is no punishment for speeding less than 20 km / h. A minimum fine of 500 rubles is charged for exceeding by 20-40 km / h.

Vladimir Kuzin also did not rule out that another punishment will be legalized in the new Code of Administrative Offenses - a fine for dangerous driving. The term appeared in the rules back in 2016, but the corresponding fine has not yet been invented.
