Volkswagen Began Searching For New Suppliers Of Auto Components In Russia

From 24 to 27 September, the Kaluga Volkswagen plant will host the Supplier Week, an event organized by the Russian office. The main goal is to find new suppliers of auto components for the VW model range assembled in Russia.

At the event, existing and potential suppliers will present projects for the localization of new and optimization of the production of already manufactured auto components. In the "Week of Suppliers" announced 50 companies that are planning to cooperate with the German manufacturer. All participants are divided into groups by category - for example, "Powertrains", "Interior", "Exterior" and so on.

Now about 60 companies work with Volkswagen Group Rus, supplying more than 5.5 thousand items of auto components. In Russia, the assembly of 5 models has been established: SkodKodiaq, Octavi and Rapid, as well as Volkswagen Polo and Tiguan. In addition, a 1.6 MPI gasoline engine with a capacity of 90 or 110 horsepower is produced on the territory of the Russian Federation. In 2018, 200 thousand cars and 161 thousand power units were produced.

According to Avto.ru, from January to August 2019, 105 thousand VW and Skod-assembled cars were sold in Russia, which is 9% more than a year earlier. The Kodiaq crossover became the absolute leader in terms of sales dynamics: the demand for it more than doubled. Taking into account imports, the number of new Skods and Volkswagen, sold in Russia, reached 114.3 thousand cars in 8 months, which is 8% more than last year's result. The production volume from January to July at the Kaluga plant increased in proportion to demand - plus 9.8%.
