Video: Suddenly: Mazda Patented A Supercar

A document from Mazda has been found in the Japanese Patent Office describing the design of the front of the spaceframe. As Motor Magazine found out, such a scheme will be used in the brand's future supercar.

- The patent contains a drawing of a space frame with double wishbone front suspension. All details of the structure, as the authors of the patent specify, are made of carbon fiber and aluminum. The engine is located within the wheelbase in the so-called front-mid-engine layout - that is, in front, but does not go beyond the front axle.
- An unnamed Mazda employee clarified that the company is indeed developing a rear-wheel drive supercar called the RX-9. He will receive his own platform, not borrowed from other models of the brand. The employee did not give any information about the date of the premiere of the supercar.

In 2015, Mazd unveiled the RX-Vision concept car equipped with a rotary engine, and in the summer of 2019 it patented a hybrid power plant, complemented by such a motor, which the future Japanese supercar could get.
