The auction house RM Sotheby’s at the end of October 2019 will hold an open auction for one of the rarest modifications of the Mercedes-Benz SL series R129 - SL 73 AMG. In total, according to various sources, from 40 to 50 of these cars were produced, equipped with the largest engine in the history of passenger car models of the German brand.

-
Mercedes-Benz SL 73 AMG was produced from 1999 to 2001, when the independent tuning studio AMG became part of the Daimler concern. The standard SL 600 was taken as a basis - the working volume of the twelve-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine was increased from six to 7.3 liters and other engine components were modified. The final result was impressive: the output of the unit reached 525 hp. and 750 Nm of torque. The motor was combined with a reinforced five-speed "automatic".
- Later, almost the same engine was produced by the AMG studio at the request of Pagani - it was installed on the Zonda model.
- Acceleration to "hundreds" of SL 73 AMG takes only 4.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to around 250 km / h. When the electronic collar is removed, the roadster can travel 320 km / h. But outside the car remained inconspicuous - it is issued only by the nameplates on the trunk lid.
- The 1999 copy put up for auction was originally sold in Japan - it is still considered prestigious to own a left-hand drive in this country. The vehicle's mileage is 34,000 kilometers. The stated condition is excellent, and the equipment is the highest possible, including special leather trim and an additional hard top.
