Hyundai Motor Group, which includes Hyundai, Ki and Genesis car brands, announced the development of an airbag that can protect the head of the driver and front passenger from injury in the event of side impacts in an accident.

- A new airbag is installed in the side of the driver's seat on the passenger side. It will open upon any strong impacts to the left side of the car, and to the right - if the sensors detect that a passenger is sitting to the right of the driver. The use of such pillows will reduce head injuries caused by collisions between passengers in an accident by 80 percent.
-
The Hyundai / Ki central side airbag is 500 grams lighter and much more compact than its competitors with the same strength. This will allow designers not to limit their imagination when developing the shape of the front seats.
- The new type of airbag will appear in the new Hyundai, Ki and Genesis products, which are preparing for mass production. What specific models they will be has not yet been specified.
