Video: Isuzu Will Set Up Production Of Pickups In Russia
Isuzu plans to organize the production of pickups in Russia after 2023. The produced cars will be sold not only on the Russian market, but also exported to other countries, writes Vedomosti.
It is assumed that the production of pickups will be established in Ulyanovsk, at the UAZ plant. Currently, SKD assembly of Isuzu trucks weighing from 3.5 to 33 tons is being carried out here. Pickups will be produced on a full cycle.
Isuzu already cooperates with Sollers and they have a joint venture created to fulfill the conditions of a special investment contract with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation - increasing the degree of localization and new developments in the segment of medium-duty trucks. Under the SPIC, the Japanese company will invest 6 billion rubles in the Russian market.
According to Avto.ru, in 2019, sales of pickups in Russia fell by 10%. From January to July, only 5.3 thousand new cars of the segment were registered. Nevertheless, the demand for the Isuzu D-Max model grew 2.5 times: 147 cars were bought. In just 7 months, 1.7 thousand cars of the brand were registered, which is 9.6% less than a year earlier.
