In Russia, drivers with children may be obliged to drive 20 km / h slower than allowed on a specific section of the road. According to the newspaper "Kommersant", this initiative was made by the head of the State Traffic Inspectorate Mikhail Chernikov.
- They returned to the idea of toughening the rules for transporting children as part of the discussion of the problem of accidents with the participation of minors. Since the beginning of 2019, for the first time in seven years, both the number of road accidents (by 1.2 percent, to 10.9 thousand accidents in seven months of this year) and the number of injured in accidents (by 1.6 percent, to 11.9 thousand children).
- In this regard, Mikhail Chernikov proposed to reduce the maximum speed limit on suburban highways by 20 km / h when transporting children: up to 70 km / h for ordinary roads and up to 90 km / h for highways. These rules are now valid for vehicles with trailers.
Other ideas include toughening the liability for transporting children without special seats and introducing more serious punishment for those responsible for road accidents transporting minors with violations. The authorities also want to start promoting the correct transport of children on social networks with the help of celebrities.
Now the fine for transporting children without special chairs is 3,000 rubles, and the punishment for those responsible for accidents with minors varies from a fine of 1,000 rubles to imprisonment for up to 15 years, depending on the severity of the consequences.
