Crossover VW T-Roc Turned Into A Convertible And Lost Two Doors

Volkswagen has unveiled the T-Roc convertible crossover. It is the only model with a retractable roof in the current lineup: the Golf and Beetle convertibles are no longer available.

• After converting the T-Roc into a convertible, only the front end remained intact. The length increased from 4234 to 4268 mm, and the wheelbase from 2590 to 2630 mm. However, the width and height decreased from 1819 to 1811 mm and from 1573 to 1522 mm, respectively. The entire body is reinforced, and behind the second row of seats there is a safety bar that extends in the event of a rollover.
• The soft multi-layer roof folds or unfolds in nine seconds at speeds up to 30 km / h. The process can be started both from the salon and remotely from the key. The roof retracts behind the backs of the second row seats. The trunk volume of the cross-convertible is 284 liters versus 445 liters for the base model. The backrests of the second row of the new items can be folded.
• At the start of sales, the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet will be offered only with gasoline turbo engines: a liter three-cylinder with 115 hp. and one and a half liter four-cylinder for 150 forces. Both are combined with a six-speed "mechanics", and for the top unit, a seven-speed "robot" with two clutches will go as an option. Whether the convertible will receive four-wheel drive or will remain only front-wheel drive is still unknown.

• The open T-Roc has got the new MIB3 multimedia system, like the Passat. The standard crossover will get it later. The list of equipment of the new items also includes several options for aerodynamic body kit, an 11.7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 400-watt BeatsAudio audio system, sports front seats with headrests integrated into the backrests and many safety systems.

The world premiere of the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and the model will go on sale in Europe in the spring of 2020. It will be produced in Osnabrück, Germany, where the open-air Golf and Beetle used to be produced.
