British research company Censuswide analyzed the impact of computer games on the driving style and found that gamers in real life turn out to be bad drivers. The results are published in The Telegraph.
- As part of the study, 1,250 people were interviewed. 26 percent of those who play computer races have two or more speeding tickets. Among those who have never played a racing game, this figure does not exceed 17 percent. On average, gamers were involved in 1.3 road accidents at the time of the survey, compared with 0.6 for all other drivers.
- At the same time, respondents who played racing arcades and car simulators every day rated their real driving skills at 8.7 points on a ten-point scale, while the average score of all respondents was 7.84 points.
- The survey also found that 59 percent of motorists believe that video games create unrealistic expectations for driving in real life, and 55 percent of drivers believe that video game creators should pay more attention to working out the dangers that can be encountered in real life.
