The Swedish government transport committee Trafikverket has conducted a series of mobile home crash tests. They did it after several fatal accidents with such campers last year. And the test results are shocking.
At speed 64 km / h The deformable barrier was smashed by two motorhomes - with a solid body and with a separate living block behind the Fiat Ducato cab. Both cars failed the test despite having airbags. The heavy weight of campers is aggravated by the presence of furniture, which by inertia flies forward. The interior sidewalls made of wood on one of the RVs are also not conducive to safety.
- Trafikverket intends to push camper manufacturers to create safer vehicles, because they do not yet comply with the same strict safety standards as passenger cars by law. The organization is discussing with the European committee Euro NCAP the possibility of carrying out crash tests of motorhomes on an ongoing basis.
