Skod India Sales and Marketing Director Zak Hollis told ZigWheels that the next generation SkodRapid liftback will appear. at the end of 2021.
- According to Hollis, the new Rapid will be built on the MQB-A0 platform, on which the Audi A1 and the European VW Polo of the latest generations are based. The novelty will receive turbo engines of 1.0 and 1.5 liters, as well as a manual transmission or "robot" with two clutches to choose from.
- So that the current Rapid, produced since 2011, does not lose its relevance, the Czechs will carry out a second restyling in 2020. It is also possible that after a generation change, the model will have a new name.
In India, under the name SkodRapid, a clone of the Volkswagen Polo sedan is sold, which differs from the original only in the design of the front and rear of the body. However, according to Hollis, after the generation change, Rapid will become a liftback in India as well.
