The Polo Storico division, which deals with the restoration of historic Lamborghini vehicles, has unveiled the restored MiurP400 supercar. This car took part in the opening scene of the cult film "Italian Work" in 1969 and was thrown off a cliff in the story.
- It is not known exactly what happened to the car all these 50 years. It was bought new by a client from Rome, and after filming the car simply disappeared. In 2015, British magazine Octane claimed that the car was in a private collection somewhere in the UK. Then, in 2018, the car fell into the hands of a collector from Liechtenstein - Fritz Kaiser. He decided to check if it was really the same Miur from "Italian work", so he turned to Lamborghini.
- To establish a biography of the car, the Polo Storico division looked up old documentation and even found former Lamborghini employees who were working on the car from the film. In particular, Polo Storico specialists talked with Enzo Moruzzi, a test pilot who personally delivered the car to the filming location and was a backup driver.
As a result, it was possible to establish that this is indeed the same car from the movie, with chassis number 3586. After receiving confirmation, the car was sent for restoration.
- During the filming, this car was not damaged: in the frames of the supercar falling from the cliff, another car was involved, which by that time was badly damaged and could not be restored. Moreover, in an effort to keep the car intact, Enzo Moruzzi asked to replace the "native" salon with another. Therefore, instead of the original white seats, black ones were installed in the car, but the headrests remained white, since they are attached to the engine shield and they could not be quickly replaced. The black and white interior is visible in some shots. By the way, here's the scene:
