Video: Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake Has Become More Practical
Mercedes-Benz showed the second generation CLShooting Brake in Geneva. It remained the last "sports wagon" in the brand's lineup, as the larger CLS Shooting Brake did not receive a successor.
New CLShooting Brake kept frameless doors and in comparison with its predecessor it has become more proportional: the length of the model has grown by 48 mm (4688 mm), in width - by 53 mm (1830 mm), the wheelbase - by 30 mm (2729 mm). At the same time, the station wagon became 2 mm lower (1439 mm).
The lights have been partially moved to the tailgate, and the width of the luggage opening at the bottom has increased from 635 to 871 mm. The volume of the trunk has grown by only 10 liters (505 liters), but the CLShooting Brake has outperformed other soplatform compact Mercedes in this respect. The A-class sedans and the CL420 have 460 liters, respectively, while the A-class hatchback has 370 liters. True, soon the B-class compact van will have a sliding second row, and the trunk volume will be fashionably increased from 490 to 705 liters.
Otherwise, the interior of the station wagon repeats the CLA sedan. The novelty also received the MBUX multimedia system with gesture recognition and a large list of options, which includes the ENERGIZING Package Plus system, which adjusts the climate and interior lighting, advanced adaptive cruise control, which sees 500 meters ahead using the camera and radars, and much more.
While the station wagon is available in the only modification CL250 with a two-liter gasoline "turbo four" with a capacity of 224 hp, a 7-speed "robot" with two clutches and front-wheel drive.
Production of the new Mercedes-Benz CLShooting Brake will begin in May 2019, and the start of European sales is scheduled for september.
