The experiment of the Ministry of Digital Industry of Russia, within the framework of which drivers will be allowed not to take their driver's licenses and transport registration certificates with them, will take place in three regions of Russia - in Moscow, the Moscow region and Tatarstan. This was reported to Avto.ru in the State Traffic Inspectorate. Instead of documents, it will be enough for the traffic police inspector to present the QR code on the smartphone.

  • It will be possible to convert documents into electronic form independently - using the appropriate application, which has not yet been published. The application itself will generate the required code, which needs to be shown to the inspector. He, in turn, considers it to be a kind of device (it is not yet clear which one) and will make sure that the specific driver's documents are in order. The application should be based on the service of public services.
  • At the same time, there is no talk of a complete rejection of physical documents yet - rather, about their digital duplicates, which can help out if the driver accidentally forgot the originals at home.

    • It is not yet known when exactly the experiment starts: it is necessary to make changes and additions to a number of existing regulations. However, according to preliminary data, it will begin during 2021.
