Video: Rare Flying Saucer Roadster In British Racing Color To Be Auctioned

Swiss dealer of exotic cars Niki Hasler has put up for sale the rare Disco Volante spider. This is the fourth of a total of seven built examples and the only one with a green body.

-
The Disco Volante (Flying Saucer) project was presented by the Italian studio Carrozzeri Touring Superlegger back in 2013, having staged the premiere of an exclusive coupe at the Geneva Motor Show. Three years later, the Disco Volante received an open version with removable roof panels, and the one for sale was assembled in 2019.
- The project is based on the AlfRomeo 8C chassis, but differs from the serial sports car with a completely new body made of carbon and aluminum. All seven cars assembled by Italians are painted in different colors: the spider, which can be purchased, is made in the famous dark green shade of British Racing, and its interior is trimmed with leather and Alcantara in a very similar color scheme.
- The spider's powertrain is identical to that found on the AlfRomeo 8C - it's a 4.7-liter V8 that develops 450 hp. and 480 Nm paired with a six-speed preselective "robot". The Disco Volante coupe with this engine spends 4.2 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h at a top speed of 290 km / h.

The run of the specimen for sale is 16 thousand kilometers. According to the seller, the car recently underwent a brake revision and received new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S K2 tires in 285/35 ZR20 dimensions. The price of the spider is not named.
- Last fall, Touring Superlegger presented another retro car based on the modern model - the Aero 3 project, which is based on the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta platform. The circulation of this model will be limited to 15 units.
