Motor Trend has released a video report of its annual event, called "The Greatest Drag Race in the World": this year it took place for the 10th time. The total output of the motors of all the participants of the recent races exceeded 5000 hp.

  • Every year, the publication collects more than a dozen supercars for the mass race, which journalists considered worthy of attention this year. However, for the final race of 2020, the organizers had to seriously change the rules.
  • Previously, all the selected cars participated in one or two races at the same time, the number of which often exceeded a dozen. The competition took place on the runway of the Vanderberg airbase, which was wide enough to accommodate all supercars at the same time. However, due to coronavirus restrictions, journalists were denied access to the strip.
  • Other runways in the immediate vicinity of Los Angeles, where the publication is based, turned out to be too short, so they had to use a certain range somewhere in California for the race. The organizers do not specify exactly where the event took place, but judging by the geotags, it was one of the sections of the LagunSeca track.

  • Due to the insufficient width of the track, the races were held in the traditional drag pair format “knockout”. This time, the participants included a full-fledged truck - the 2020 debut Ram 1500 TRX with a 712-horsepower engine, which the manufacturer calls the most powerful pickup on the planet. In addition to him, the honor of supercars capable of moving off the pavement was defended by the 550-horsepower Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe.
  • Other participants include Shelby Mustang GT500 (770 hp), Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (502 hp), AcurNSX (581 hp), Lamborghini Huracan Evo (640 hp), Porsche 911 Turbo S (650 hp) and 720-strong coupe Ferrari F8 Tributo. The finalists, who fought for the title of the winner of the jubilee "The Greatest Drag Racing in the World", at the finish line, according to the organizers, were separated by only about one and a half meters.
  • Last year's race in both 402 and 804 meters was won by an 800-horsepower McLaren Senna, and ToyotSupra was the last to finish in both cases. A total of 12 supercars took part in the competition.
