Video: Paul Walker's Unique Shelby Cobra To Go Under The Hammer
The Shelby 427 CobrFAM sports car from the garage of actor Paul Walker will be put up for sale at the Mecum auction in March this year. The roadster, personally designed by Carroll Shelby, is dedicated to Shelby's victory over Ferrari in 1965: only two were built, but this one is special.
The famous racer ordered the creation of two copies of CobrFAM in the late 90s of the last century. This abbreviation stands for Ferrari's Ass Is Mine. It is believed that Carroll Shelby spoke these words in 1964 after losing to Ferrari at the World Championship and kept his promise a year later.
- As a reminder of long-term victories, two FAM roadsters on a CSX1000 series chassis were painted in Ferrari's signature Rosso Corsa color. But the piece for sale has an original interior, finished in tan leather with nameplates with the series name. The auction house claims that only one Shelby Cobra can boast of this kind of finish.
- Serial number CSX1010 is powered by a seven-liter V8 from Ford that develops 550 hp. mated to a 5-speed Tremec manual transmission.
The estimated cost of the rarity is not called by the auctioneers. However, this is not the first time that the unique Shelby Cobr has been resold from the garage of actor Paul Walker who died in 2013. In 2017, the same car changed its owner for 395 thousand dollars (29.2 million rubles), and the then sellers stated that the sports car had never been registered, and its mileage was less than 25 kilometers.
- In January 2020, a whole collection of cars that belonged to the actor was auctioned off - Paul Walker is best known for his leading role in the Fast and Furious movie series. More than $ 2.3 million were paid for 18 cars and 3 motorcycles.
