Classic Range Rover Will Turn Into An Electric Car For 24.5 Million Rubles

British studio Lunaz Design, which became famous after demonstrating several projects for converting vintage cars into electric cars, has expanded its portfolio with the first generation Range Rover SUV. As Autocar clarifies, in addition to the electric power plant, the SUV will also be equipped with modern multimedia devices. The cost of a turnkey project is from 245 thousand pounds (329 thousand dollars or 24.5 million rubles).

• The transformation will begin with a complete disassembly of the car and restoration of the body. Along the way, the components of the car were subjected to 3D scanning: by means of computer modeling the nuances of the layout of the new power plant, the tuners will select individually for each instance.
• The classic Range Rover is also promised suspension upgrades and more modern interior trim. At the request of the customer, a multimedia system, an air conditioner and an Internet access point will appear in the SUV's cabin.
• Two basic equipment options are promised - Town for predominantly urban use and Country with improved off-road parameters. At the same time, Lunaz does not disclose the technical characteristics of future electric cars. Earlier it was reported that the studio has power plants with a capacity of up to 598 hp. and batteries with a power reserve of up to 400 kilometers.
• Lunaz also announced the possibility of converting the Range Rover into an electric off-road convertible called the Safari, modeled on the car featured in the 1983 film Octopus, about British special agent James Bond. According to Autocar, the first example of such a convertible already has its owner.
• All in all, Lunaz Design plans to assemble only 50 restomodes based on the first generation Range Rover, which were produced from 1970 to 1994.
• Last year, Lunaz Design announced its readiness to convert other classic cars from the UK to electric traction - in particular, the Jaguar XK120 and Rolls-Royce Phantom V. The conversion price of these models turned out to be higher: from 350 thousand pounds.
