The head of the traffic police of Russia, Mikhail Chernikov, told the RIA agency that changing the rules for conducting an exam for a driver's license would increase the level of road safety. Now, according to him, more than 700 young drivers die in road accidents every year.

• The head of the State Traffic Inspectorate noted that the new examination scheme for cadets will allow them to assess their skills in an environment that is as close to real as possible, including when crossing intersections, parking and driving on highways.
• According to Chernikov, abandoning the traditional "site" and transferring the delivery of basic exercises to the urban environment will give the traffic police inspector the opportunity to "understand how safe the driver will be." The head of the department called the reason for the death of young drivers on the roads "low knowledge and skills."

• The new rules for taking exams will take effect from April 1, 2021. The main change is the refusal to test the skills of cadets on the traditional "site", that is, a closed territory. Tests of candidates for the title of driver will take place in real urban conditions. In addition, the results of the exams can be appealed by means of an appeal. If the student's complaint is satisfied, then the test results will be canceled and the exam will be allowed to retake.
