Video: See How The Flying AirCar Spread Its Wings And Took Off

KleinVision has demonstrated the first flight tests of its new AirCar flying machine. The video, published on the company's YouTube channel, shows the transformation from road to flight mode and flight along with takeoff and landing. The pilot was Stefan Klein, the founder of the company.
- The tests took place at the airport in the Slovak city of Piestany. In order to switch to flight mode, AirCar moves the rear axle further back, increasing the wheelbase, and retractable wings take place in the opening that appears. The complete transformation process lasts no more than three minutes and requires only one button press from the driver, and passengers do not need to get out of the car. Take off will require no more than 300 meters of free straight line.
- Externally, AirCar has little in common with usual cars: its wheels are covered with aerodynamic covers, and in the rear part, a large wing on the “tail” and a large propeller are clearly visible.
-
Under the hood of the flying machine is a 140 horsepower BMW engine. It provides the 1100-kg AirCar with a maximum 200 km / h both on the ground and in the air. The declared maximum mileage at one gas station is 1000 kilometers, but the company does not specify what kind of driving mode is in question.
- There is no data yet on the cost and circulation, but the company promises to start sales by the spring of 2021. In the future, the model lineup will be replenished with a four-seater version and a version with two motors.
