In the suburbs of Moscow, traffic cameras began to record trucks that go around through the regional settlements of the highway with the "Platon" fare payment system. Fines are already being issued, and the authorities say that they began the fight against the "deviators" in response to complaints from local residents. This was reported by Kommersant.
- Deputy Minister of Transport of the Moscow Region Igor Korolev explained that now cameras in the Moscow Region will record the transit passage of trucks through cities and towns. According to the official, “citizens do not like it when heavy trucks are constantly passing by their houses, which are trying to bypass federal roads through settlements so as not to pay for Platon”.
- Korolev also added that cameras are now recording transit trucks in Bronnitsy, and since October 13, several hundred violations have already been issued. At the same time, in the near future, cameras will start working in 10 more settlements of the region.
-
Intruder trucks are caught using a technology similar to fixing the average speed on a section of the road, which is already used in a number of regions of Russia. In front of the settlement they put a sign "The movement of trucks is prohibited", at the exit - a sign canceling the ban (this applies to trucks with a total mass of 7 tons). Automation calculates the travel time without stopping, and if the driver has met it or drove faster, then the owner of the truck will be fined 500 rubles for transit travel. But if a truck is delayed in a settlement, then it is assumed that the car has brought goods and is unloading, and the camera will not record such a truck.
- The representative of the Platon system told the publication that it is economically unprofitable for trucks to bypass toll roads, since the speed of movement is lower, and there are much more intersections and pedestrians, which leads to an increase in fuel consumption and increases travel time.
- The interlocutor also suggested that the freight carriers do not go around the toll points of the Platon system itself, but freight scales and trivial traffic jams on the highways. Representatives of the cargo industry say that trucks travel through settlements due to a lack of bypass roads.
