YouTube blogger Westen Champlin told Autoevolution about his Ford Mustang powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins 6BT diesel. In the nineties, such an engine was installed in Dodge Ram pickups, and now they are often used when finalizing the Land Rover Defender.
- Westen acquired his Mustang in February 2020 with a thoroughly broken front. He had to repair the car, and at the same time he decided to do its tuning.
- The place of the old engine was taken by a Cummins turbodiesel, which in stock produced 230 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. Champlin made the engine even more powerful: in the video you can see how at one moment the boost pressure exceeds 4 bar. The exact recoil of the modified Cummins is unknown.
- Externally, the Mustang is distinguished by the absence of a hood, as well as front bumpers and fenders from the Shelby GT500 version.
- Westen's goal is to show the result of covering a quarter mile distance in less than 12 seconds. For comparison, an ordinary Mustang GT on "mechanics" does it in 12.9 seconds.
The standard sixth-generation Ford Mustang GT is powered by a five-liter V8 with 421 hp. and 530 Nm of torque. With such a motor, the coupe accelerates to a hundred in 4.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 250 kilometers per hour.
