Volkswagen has unveiled the Golf GTI Clubsport, the most powerful version of the Golf hatchback to date. The novelty received a 300-horsepower engine, a modified suspension and more efficient brakes. Added Special mode, tuned specifically for the Nürburgring track.

  • The car received an electromechanical differential lock instead of an electronic imitation on the regular GTI and reduced ground clearance by 15 mm. The settings of the springs and shock absorbers have been changed, the wheel alignment angles have been reconfigured. Adaptive DCC shocks with 15 damping adjustments are available as an option for the Clubsport version.

  • Special control mode has been added to the GTI Clubsport mechatronic chassis settings, tuned specifically for the Nürburgring. It includes softer suspension settings than Sport mode due to the specific track terrain.
  • The hatchback gets larger and lighter brakes with twin-piston calipers. On optional 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, the five-door covers the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 54 seconds - 13 seconds faster than the standard Golf GTI.
  • Sales of the model will start in November, but prices have not yet been announced. A regular Golf GTI in Germany starts at 37,607 euros (44.2 thousand US dollars). The delivery of the hatchback to Russia was not reported.
