Auto.ru sells hundreds of thousands of used cars. The overwhelming majority of them - with laudatory, if not simply enthusiastic descriptions from the owners. Cars usually look attractive in photographs, too.

This is understandable: each seller strives to present his product in the best possible light. But is the car really as good as it is described? Has he had an accident, what is his true mileage, will the buyer have legal problems with him? Once a week, we find advertisements for the sale of cars, in the past of which there were dark pages. ProAvto reports help us to bring them to light, information for which Auto.ru collects from many sources.

Today we're looking at a pretty blue 2016 Jaguar XF with relatively low mileage and a great price. In the photos that the seller attached to the ad, the car looks great - you can only find fault with the carpets in the cabin, which would not be prevented by cleaning, and the front bumper with small chips from stones flying from the road.

In the description of the car, the seller praises the XF model in every possible way (albeit with minor errors), but does not say anything about a specific instance from the ad. He only "admits" that the car suits him completely, and he sells it because of financial difficulties.

It seems not a car, but a buyer's dream. But the Automotive.ru report casts doubt on this. The first alarm bell rings out when you watch its short free version. It turns out that the car had three owners, not two, as indicated by the seller. And most importantly: the registration of the sedan in the traffic police was interrupted for a whole year and a half, during which the car was not used. Why?

The answer is given by the full ProAvto report. Already its first page is replete with warning red marks.

It turns out that the interruption in registration was caused by the fact that shortly before that the previous owner (the second in a row) got into an accident. And the Jaguar XF was sold without rebuilding. How serious the collision and the damage caused by it was can be judged from the photographs from that announcement - after all, it is also carefully stored on Avto.ru.

The description for it says that the car is being sold by an insurance company and that in the event of an accident, the part on which the VIN is applied is damaged.

Nevertheless, the wrecked sedan was quickly bought - apparently in the hope of restoration. But something went wrong, because a few months later the Jaguar was again sold on Automotive News - already on four wheels, but still wrecked.

Judging by the current photos of the Jaguar, the next buyer was able to return the car to a decent appearance and restored its registration with the traffic police. But have all the consequences of such a serious accident been eliminated and how high-quality was the repair?

The Automotive News report, by the way, shows that a few months before this accident, Jaguar got into another alteration, after which the sedan was repaired according to CASCO. There are no photos of damage in that accident, but judging by the repair calculations from the insurance company (they are also used in the preparation of the Automotive.ru report), the entire left side of the car was damaged. As a result, both doors, front fender and bumper, left mirror had to be changed.
