The Japanese company Toyot has filed an unusual patent for direction indicators for a vehicle capable of moving not only straight and at an angle, but also sideways. This is reported by Autoblog.

  • According to the idea reflected in the patent, the direction indicators will warn those around that the car is about to start moving in some unusual way. For example, it will go sideways to take a parking space.
  • To indicate such maneuvers, the automaker proposes to complicate the rear direction indicators - to apply four sections to the right and left. If the car is going to go to the right or left perpendicular to the road, then the lights will flash like a dynamic LED strip - across the entire width of the car in the direction of travel.

  • In addition, Toyot patented the wheel arch lighting as an additional notice to others. Additional direction indicators at the corners of the body and voice prompts are also proposed.
  • The timing of the appearance of technology capable of moving in any direction has not yet been reported.
  • From the patent for the swivel wheel mechanism itself, it follows that the wheel hubs in this case are attached to levers, which can be rotated 180 degrees inside the wheel arch. Such a solution allows, when turning on the spot, to change the position of both the front and rear wheels by an angle of up to 45 degrees.
