Video: Volkswagen Could Convert Classic Golf, Beetle And Safari To Electricity

The German brand Volkswagen has applied for the registration of the e-Beetle, e-Golf Classic and e-Safari trademarks. Under them, most likely, they will produce classic electric cars based on Golf, Beetle and Safari. The new models will join the eClassics electric range, which will also include the e-Kaefer convertible and e-Bulli van.

-
To turn rarities into electric cars, the Germans opened a subsidiary company eClassics. Components for it are supplied by the Volkswagen Group Components division.
- Both previous models are equipped with stuffing from the e-up hatchback! An 82-horsepower electric motor is installed on the rear axle, and a battery with a capacity of 36 kWh was placed under the floor. The power reserve is more than 200 kilometers.
- Simple electrification in eClassics is unlikely to be limited: for example, the e-Bulli received a new multi-link suspension with adjustable shock absorbers and disc brakes in a circle. VW is ready to modify the later Transporter T2 and T3. The cost of the alterations is 64.5 thousand euros (5.6 million rubles), excluding the price of the machine itself.
- In addition to the Beetle, Golf and Safari, the classic coupe Porsche 356 can also undergo modernization. But the Stuttgart sports car was not among the applications for registration of trademarks.
