New Kia Sportage Photographed For The First Time On The Road

A reader of The Korean Car Blog posted a snapshot of the fifth-generation KiSportage crossover prototype seen in Korea. However, insiders say that it is not worth rejoicing in the imminent appearance of the car on the roads, since the release of the model is postponed to 2021.

• According to Kia's original plan, the new Sportage was supposed to go on sale before the end of 2020. In this case, the prototypes of the crossover should have already gone to tests on landfills and on public roads, but so far not a single "spy" photograph of the novelty has been published. • The KCB website, with a link to the Bobaedream forum, writes that the release of the fifth generation KiSportage has been postponed to mid-2021. The reason is changes in the design of the car. In April 2020, it became known that Luc Donckerwolke is leaving the post of chief designer of the Hyundai Motor Group. It is possible that this circumstance was the reason for the revision of the approach to the design of the new Sportage.
• According to the portal, the next Sportage will appear in both regular and long wheelbase versions - the latter will be focused on the key markets for the model - South Korea and Europe. There is no information about the engine, gearboxes and equipment of the new crossover yet.
• The fourth generation KiSportage debuted on the market in 2015 and was restyled in the winter of 2019. The car received modified bumpers, a new radiator grill, headlights with LED lamps and new wheels.
• In Russia, the crossover is presented with gasoline engines of 2.0 and 2.2 liters with a capacity of 150 and 184 hp. respectively, both with front and all-wheel drive.
