AvtoVAZ Officially Showed The New "Niva"

AvtoVAZ began production of the Niv SUV under the Lada brand. Now the car is called not Chevrolet Niva, but LadNiva, and looks different from its predecessor.

• The off-road SUV, which has passed under the Lad brand, has a new radiator grill, which is now adorned with a branded boat.
• In terms of technology, everything has remained the same: the all-wheel drive LadNiv is equipped with a 1.7-liter gasoline 80-horsepower engine with a 5-speed "mechanics" and a two-band "razdatka" with a center differential with a lock. How much the cost will change is still unknown. Cars called Chevrolet Niv are still on sale at a price of 401,500 rubles.
• The deal to buy out 50% of shares in GM-AVTOVAZ joint venture with Chevrolet by AvtoVAZ was completed in December last year. The production site, where the former Chevrolet Niva is produced, was renamed into Lada Zapad Togliatti. There they painted bodies and assembled cars, and AvtoVAZ made the main components and assemblies.

• The Niv SUV (index 2123) was developed by AvtoVAZ in 2000. The production of the model began under the Lada brand, and two years later the car was restarted under the Chevrolet brand at the GM-AVTOVAZ joint venture. Over the past 20 years, more than 700 thousand of these machines have been produced.
