Analysts at FiatGroupWorld.com studied information on passenger car sales in 2019 and compiled a rating of the most popular models in the world. The top 10 includes 5 sedans, 4 SUVs and 1 pickup. And all, with the exception of the last, turned out to be Japanese.
- Among passenger cars, excluding light commercial vehicles and minivans, the ToyotCorolla sedan turned out to be the world leader: 1.21 million copies were sold in 2019. Next on the list are ToyotRAV4 with 964,000 units, HondCR-V (831,000 units), Ford F-150 (749,000 units), Nissan Sentr (722,000 units), ToyotCamry (708,000 units), Nissan X-Trail (674,000), HondCivic (666,000), HondHR-V (626,000) and HondAccord (587,000).

The popularity of the SUV segment continues to grow globally, with 31.13 million vehicles sold in 2019, or 39% of global sales. This is one of two segments that showed growth in 2019. The most capacious were the markets of China, Russia, Europe, USA-Canada and the Middle East. Thanks to a wide range of models and not very high prices, SUV cars are appreciated in India and Latin America. The sales leader in the segment is Renault-Nissan (3.55 million units) with the Nissan Rogue / X-Trail, Nissan Qashqai and Renault / DaciDuster models. In second place are VW (3.48 million), followed by Toyot (3.08 million), Hyundai (2.85 million) and GM (2.35 million).
- In the ranking of the best-selling SUV models, the places were distributed as follows: ToyotRAV4 (964,000 units), HondCR-V (831,000 units), Nissan X-Trail (674,000 units), HondHR-V (626,000 units), Nissan Qashqai (577,000), VW Tiguan (536,000), Hyundai Tucson (528,000), Ford Escape / Kug (485,000), MazdCX-5 (438,000), Chevrolet Equinox (435,000 pcs.).

- Sales of pickups also grew - from 5.33 million vehicles sold in 2018 to 5.52 million at the end of 2019. In the first lines of the rating - North America, then - Latin America and Southeast Asia: they account for about 90% of all sold cars. Top sellers by brands are Ford, GM and FCA.
