Five-door Kia Stinger Turned Into A Convertible: It Turned Out Cool

In Orlando, USA, the public premiere of the first ever convertible with a soft top based on the KiStinger fastback took place. Officially, the Ki company does not produce such cars - a tuning studio was engaged in the development of an open version by order of one of the dealers.

• The project was implemented by the Drop Top Customs studio commissioned by the City Kia dealership. The roof was cut off and the body was reinforced, while retaining the four doors. The suspension uses springs and reinforced anti-roll bars from Eibach, the wheels are forged, and some of the body panels are replaced with carbon counterparts.
• Along the way, the tuners have worked on the power plant. The convertible is based on the Stinger GT with a supercharged V6 that develops 370 hp from the factory. and 510 Nm of torque. However, the engine was equipped with a lightweight intake with an intercooler, an alternative exhaust system and a reprogrammed control unit. How much the engine output has increased is not reported, but, according to The Drive, the authors of the project called the priority not the power, but the responsiveness of the motor.

• According to the newspaper, the customers of the convertible have already announced their intention to establish a small-scale production of the convertible. However, Drop Top Customs noted that at the moment only one conceptual sample has been built, and the fact of in-line production has not yet been confirmed. Nevertheless, the tuners do not deny the possibility of passing the concept of tests necessary for certification of a small batch.

• KiStinger itself has recently been updated, and a restyled version of the model is available on the Russian market since March 15. The update also affected the price: now the model costs at least 2 409 900 rubles, which is 95 thousand more than before the restyling.
