Volvo has announced the transition of four models to a new media system based on Android. It will receive the XC60 crossover, as well as a family with an index of 90 - a sedan and both station wagons. The media system will provide access to Google services, and the first machines with the new OS will appear in May.
- The multimedia system with the new shell will allow users to control its functions in the same way as on smartphones. The system's interface has been claimed to be more user-friendly and the connectivity has been described as "unprecedented."
- A number of applications adapted for use on cars will be available to Volvo drivers with the new system via Google Play. Google Maps will act as an on-board navigator. In addition, the media system can be controlled by voice thanks to the Google Assistant.
Volvo also promised the users of the system a package of new digital services, which will be based on Google services. Finally, the new media system implies the emergence of wireless charging for gadgets and the option of updating software "over the air".
- The first novelty will get the Volvo XC60 crossover - an updated modification of the SUV will go into production in May this year. She corrected the plastic of the bumpers, changed the gear selector and expanded the finishing options. In addition, the Volvo XC60 will be equipped with a modernized set of driver's assistants.
- The Android-based infotainment system debuted on an electric version of the XC40 compact crossover. This model, called the XC40 Recharge, was presented by Volvo back in 2019. The electric car is equipped with two electric motors with a total capacity of 408 hp. and is capable of accelerating to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds.
